Family Therapy

Consideration of a family’s need for therapy can be an intimating venture. Family dynamics can at times bring both our best and worst qualities. One’s upbringing and cultural influences are often times at the forefront of how family dynamics are played out in day-to-day living. In beginning family therapy, we will collaboratively explore and process expectations of therapy, and identify what are the primary issues impacting the family. You will expect to identify your family’s uniqueness in terms of rules, roles, and communication patterns that make up your family system. By uncovering how your family is functioning, you can expect to bring about increased awareness, understanding, acceptance of and adaption to each family member’s emotional and psychological needs.

Here are some topics we can explore together in family therapy:

divorce/separation

parent-child relationships

sibling rivalry

intergenerational trauma
